Job Description
We are recruiting a Senior Residential Support Worker to join a leading children’s residential care provider in Colchester, Essex. This is an in-person role supporting children and young people in an Ofsted-registered residential setting, with a strong focus on staff wellbeing, development, and progression.
You’ll be part of a supportive leadership culture with access to welfare and development support, structured CPD, and clear pathways into Deputy and Registered Manager roles.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Residential Support Worker based in Colchester, your daily duties will include:
- Leading shifts and providing day-to-day guidance to the residential care team in Colchester
- Supporting children and young people with complex needs and challenging behaviours, using trauma-informed approaches
- Building consistent, positive relationships that promote safety, stability, and progress
- Contributing to care planning, recording, and maintaining high standards aligned to Ofsted expectations
- Supporting a culture of development, accountability, and best practice across the home
Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful as a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will need:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in children’s residential care (essential)
- Supervisory experience within residential childcare (essential)
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with resilience, empathy, and professionalism
- Enhanced DBS check (required – supported/paid as part of the process)
- Driving licence (preferred)
- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (preferred)
- Willingness to complete a Level 4 qualification after probation (training provided)
