Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 per annum + sleep-in bonuses (up to £8,580 per year)

Job Description
Residential Child Care Worker roles are available in Sway, Hampshire, supporting children and young people in small, nurturing residential homes. This is a hands-on, in-person position where you’ll help create a safe, stable and therapeutic environment for children who have experienced trauma. Full training is provided, and applications are welcome from all experience levels.
Key Responsibilities
As a Residential Child Care Worker based in Sway, your daily duties will include:
- Providing consistent emotional and practical support tailored to each child’s needs
- Building trusting relationships and acting as a positive role model within the home
- Supporting routines such as school runs, appointments, activities and family contact (using home vehicles) in Sway
- Planning and delivering recreational and educational activities that build confidence and social skills
- Completing household tasks (cooking, cleaning and maintaining a welcoming home environment)
- Maintaining accurate records, daily logs and completing health & safety checks
- Working collaboratively with external professionals (e.g., social workers and educators)
- Working a 24-hour shift pattern including weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins (22:30–07:30)
Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful as a Residential Child Care Worker, you will need:
- Aged 21+
- Full, clean UK driving licence (essential)
- Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
- A compassionate, resilient and reliable approach, with strong communication skills
- Willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS check (funded by the employer)
Desirable (not essential):
- Level 3 Diploma/NVQ in Residential Childcare / Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
- Experience supporting children with complex emotional and behavioural needs
- Awareness of trauma-informed approaches such as PACE and DDP
