Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Specialist Occupational Therapist to support our specialist schools across Swansea and Powys. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, helping children and young people with complex needs thrive in their educational environments. The successful candidate will deliver assessment, intervention, consultation, and training to promote positive outcomes for pupils with additional learning needs.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Specialist Occupational Therapist based in Swansea and Powys, your daily duties will include:
- Delivering high-quality occupational therapy assessment and intervention for children and young people with complex needs.
- Applying specialist approaches, including sensory integration, trauma-informed practice, and evidence-based interventions.
- Collaborating with teachers, support staff, families, and multidisciplinary colleagues to develop inclusive learning environments.
- Providing individual and group interventions focused on sensory processing, motor skills, independence, participation, and daily living skills.
- Contributing to EHCP/IDP reviews, multidisciplinary meetings, and therapeutic planning.
- Building staff confidence through training, consultation, and practical support to embed therapeutic strategies into everyday school life.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Specialist Occupational Therapist, you will need:
- A Degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Experience working with children and young people with additional needs, including autism and complex learning needs.
- Specialist knowledge of sensory integration, attachment, trauma-informed practice, or social, emotional, and mental health needs.
- Experience delivering training, consultation, and support within educational settings.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and report-writing skills.
- A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel between sites.
