Job Description:
Are you a dedicated Speech and Language Therapist seeking a rewarding role where you can make a real difference? Our client, a leading specialist provider, is looking for a passionate Speech and Language Therapist to join their team at Petherton Park School in North Petherton. This is an excellent opportunity for both experienced therapists and those looking to progress into a specialist role. In this position, you will support pupils with Learning Disabilities and Autism, helping them develop vital communication skills that enable them to thrive academically and socially.
Your day will involve collaborative team briefings, delivering 1:1 therapy, small-group interventions, and working closely with teachers to embed communication strategies within the classroom. You will also play a key role in mentoring less experienced therapists, contributing to training initiatives, and supporting university students on placement. The role offers a supportive environment with ongoing training and development, including protected time for your clinical growth.
This is a meaningful opportunity to help children unlock their potential, build confidence, and develop skills that will shape their futures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting assessments and delivering tailored speech and language therapy sessions for pupils with diverse needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health challenges, Learning Disabilities, and Autism.
- Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including creative art therapists, teachers, and teaching assistants, to provide holistic support.
- Participating in team meetings and contributing to the development of individualised support plans.
- Maintaining accurate records and completing administrative tasks efficiently, with the flexibility to work from home during school holidays.
- Supporting the training and supervision of less experienced therapists and university students on placement.
- Taking a trauma-informed approach to clinical work, ensuring the emotional wellbeing of pupils is prioritised.
Requirements:
- A recognised Degree in Speech and Language Therapy, with HCPC registration and membership with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
- Good IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- A full driving licence, as occasional offsite meetings may be required.
- Passion for working with children with complex needs and a commitment to professional development.
