Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Supervising Social Worker to join a leading specialist foster care provider in the Northwest. The Supervising Social Worker role in the Northwest offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people. This full-time position is ideal for a passionate professional committed to high standards of fostering practice and child welfare. The Supervising Social Worker in the Northwest will play a vital role in supporting foster families, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting positive outcomes for children in care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support and supervision to foster parents, managing a realistic caseload to ensure high-quality oversight.
  • Monitor and evaluate foster placements, ensuring compliance with all fostering regulations and safeguarding legislation.
  • Work collaboratively with children, young people, foster parents, local authorities, and other professionals to facilitate participation in decision-making processes, including child protection.
  • Lead recruitment, training, and ongoing supervision of foster parents to promote their skills and wellbeing.
  • Maintain accurate and timely reports, working to strict deadlines.
  • Participate in Out of Hours rota, providing phone contact and signposting support across the Northwest region.

Requirements:

  • Hold a Social Work England qualification in Social Work or equivalent, and be registered with Social Work England.
  • Proven experience working within fostering services.
  • Extensive knowledge of fostering regulations, child care law, and safeguarding legislation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Commitment to high-quality practice, with flexibility to work after hours and weekends when required.
  • Full driving licence and unrestricted access to a vehicle, with willingness to travel across the Northwest.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and database systems.
  • Willingness to undertake an Enhanced DBS check (cost covered by the employer).
