Job Description:
A leading specialist provider is seeking a dedicated Supervising Social Worker to join their team in Buckley, Flintshire. This is a vital role for professionals passionate about supporting foster carers and ensuring children who have experienced early childhood trauma receive high-quality, stable, and therapeutic care. The Supervising Social Worker in this role will play a key part in providing supervision, guidance, and training to foster carers, helping them develop the skills necessary to manage trauma-related behaviours effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide regular, high-quality supervision to an allocated group of foster carers in Buckley and surrounding areas.
  • Ensure foster carers understand and meet fostering standards, regulations, and agency policies.
  • Collaborate closely with Therapeutic Social Workers and Local Authority childcare social workers to support children and foster families.
  • Support foster carers in building their therapeutic skills to manage trauma-related behaviours.
  • Participate in the agency’s 24/7 out-of-hours support rota to offer advice and guidance to carers in crisis.

Requirements:

  • Recognised professional Social Work qualification (e.g., DipSW, BA/BSc Social Work).
  • Current registration with Social Care Wales (or Social Work England if transferring).
  • Previous experience within a fostering service or children’s social care is essential.
  • Strong assessment and report-writing skills, with a level-headed approach to crises.
  • Commitment to trauma-informed practice.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel across Flintshire and surrounding areas.
