  • Facilitate and deliver training to foster families, ensuring compliance with the Training Support and Development Standards
  • Attend recruitment events, open days, and community activities to attract new foster carers
  • Maintain a child-centred approach, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children at all times
  • Work flexibly outside of office hours to support carers and children, including participating in out-of-hours on-call rota
  • Develop and grow a cohort of foster carers, undertaking Form F assessments as needed
  • Collaborate with families and professionals to ensure placements meet children’s needs
  • Keep up-to-date with relevant legislation, regulations, and best practice standards

Requirements:

  • A three-year undergraduate degree or a two-year postgraduate degree in social work, with SWE registration
  • Extensive knowledge of safeguarding, The Children Act 1989, Fostering Regulations 2011, and related legislation
  • Experience in undertaking Form F assessments and working with foster carers
  • Ability to work flexibly outside of standard hours, including evenings and weekends when required
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to identify issues and develop solutions
  • Commitment to maintaining family and community placements where in the child’s best interests
  • Valid driving licence and willingness to travel across rural areas, with flexibility for journeys up to 90 minutes per carer

This Supervising Social Worker role in Devon offers a rewarding career within a supportive environment that values kindness, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The organisation promotes a “family-feel” culture, focusing on quality and positive outcomes for children and carers alike.
