Job Title: Senior Supervising Social Worker – Fostering Services (North West England)
Location: North West England (Homeworking)
Salary: £32,341 - £34,090 per annum (dependent on experience)
Job Description:
Join our client’s passionate and dedicated fostering charity as a Senior Supervising Social Worker in North West England. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced social workers to make a meaningful difference in the lives of looked-after children by recruiting, assessing, supervising, and supporting foster carers. The Senior Supervising Social Worker will work remotely, with regional travel to foster carers’ homes and recruitment events, ensuring high standards of care and support. Key Responsibilities:
- Travel within the North West England region to attend meetings, recruitment events, and training sessions.
- Conduct Form F assessments in line with agency standards and statutory timescales.
- Prepare detailed assessment reports and present them to the Fostering Panel.
- Support and supervise foster carers through regular visits, support calls, and training.
- Assist with the matching process and placement of children with foster carers.
- Participate in out-of-hours duty system (approximately 6 times a year) to provide emergency support to foster carers.
- Liaise with Local Authorities and contribute to care planning and review meetings.
- Organise and support foster carer training and development needs.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with Ofsted and social work standards.
- Contribute to project work and initiatives that benefit foster carers and children.
Requirements:
- Diploma or BA in Social Work (or equivalent qualification) and registration with Social Work England.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience working within fostering or children’s services.
- Proven experience in assessing and supporting foster carers.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including The Children Act 1989 and fostering standards.
- Excellent report writing, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage a flexible workload.
- Full driving license with access to a suitable vehicle (no more than 9 points).
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Experience working with Local Authority or Independent Fostering Agencies.
- Knowledge of adoption legislation, data protection, and human rights.
- Experience in recruitment and publicity of foster carers.
- Ability to work effectively in a changing environment and under pressure.

- Workload is managed to ensure a manageable caseload.
