We have an AMAZING opportunity for a Support Worker in Supported Accommodation to join a fantastic supported living transitional service in Exeter, supporting young adults between the ages of 16-25 with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours.

We are looking for enthusiastic, resilient and motivated individuals who want to make a difference to the lives of young people; to enable them to develop socially, emotionally and behaviourally in a setting where they feel safe and cared for.

The role involves helping young people to get ready for adult life, including budgeting, job/ college and university applications. You can guarentee that this role is as fast paced and changing as it is rewarding.

Role: Support Worker - Supported living service
Salary: £30,680 - £37,960 (Inclusive of sleeps)
Location: Exeter (EX4)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 40 Hours per week 
Sleeps Rota: 9am- 10pm sleep 8am 
Shift pattern:  Week 1 - Monday, Thursday, Sunday 
                        Week 2 - Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday
                       (can be flexible with the shifts)

As a Young People Support Worker you will be responsible for:

  • Encouraging young adults to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on their age.
  • Keeping the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes.
  • Dealing with challenging behaviours when needed.
  • Protecting the young adults from risks to their health and welfare.
  • Providing support for the young people in the home and promoting their independence and well-being.
  • Maintaining a safe environment for young people.
  • Ensuring the safety of the young adults and maintaining an up to date knowledge of the individual’s; care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication.
  • Supporting taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically.
  • Developing and maintaining good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers and other professionals that may be involved in the young people’s lives such as Psychologists. 

Requirements:

  • Experience as a childrens residential support worker or young people support worker is DESIRABLE
  • Experience in another part of the healthcare or social carer sector is DESIRABLE
  • You will have a DBS on the update service for a quick start! DESIRABLE
  • NVQ or QCF level 3 or 4 in Children & Young People is DESIRABLE
  • MUST have a passion to support young adults
  • MUST be able to commute to Exeter
  • MUST be a driver with a full licence as you may be required to transport the young people to college and appointments
