Job Description
We are recruiting a Support Worker (Care) to join a specialist residential service in Llandovery, Wales, supporting young adults with learning disabilities, disabilities and, where relevant, autism. This is a hands-on role within a structured 24-hour curriculum and total communication environment, focused on person-centred outcomes and improving life chances.
Key Responsibilities
As a Support Worker (Care) based in Llandovery, your daily duties will include:
- Supporting person-centred planning and delivering day-to-day care that promotes dignity, privacy, and independence.
- Updating and maintaining accurate care documentation (e.g., Care Plans, Risk Assessments, Behaviour Support Plans) in line with internal policies and regulatory frameworks.
- Administering medication safely in line with organisational procedures and relevant care standards.
- Working collaboratively with House Managers, colleagues, families, and external agencies to provide integrated support.
- Supporting safeguarding practices, escalating concerns appropriately, and contributing to a safe environment.
- Assisting with domestic tasks within residential houses and recording service user financial expenditure as required.
- Completing sleep-ins / wakeful nights (typically expected to be one per week) and supporting individuals who may display challenging behaviour.
- Attending team meetings, service user meetings, and parents’ weekends when required.
- Supervising volunteers and participating in training and ongoing CPD.
Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful as a Support Worker (Care), you will need:
- Experience supporting individuals in a care, residential, or supported living setting (or transferable experience).
- A strong commitment to Equality & Diversity, confidentiality, and person-centred practice.
- Willingness to complete sleep-ins / wakeful nights and work within a 24-hour service model.
- Ability to follow safeguarding procedures and maintain compliant documentation.
- QCF Level 3 (desirable) — if qualified, you may be asked to shift lead and represent key residents at meetings when directed.
