Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Residential Support Worker to join a leading specialist provider committed to delivering high-quality care for children with learning disabilities. The Residential Support Worker for children with learning disabilities will play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment that promotes the well-being, independence, and development of each child. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about making a positive impact on young lives in a residential setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct, child-centred care to children with learning disabilities, supporting their emotional, physical, and social needs.
Build trusting relationships to encourage development, independence, and confidence.
Support children with daily activities, including personal care and recreational pursuits, fostering self-esteem.
Follow safeguarding procedures diligently, reporting concerns immediately to ensure children’s safety.
Contribute to risk assessments and care plans tailored to each child's needs.
Assist in implementing individualised care plans, supporting communication, mobility, behaviour management, and personal development.
Promote positive behaviours and independence using respectful strategies.
Encourage participation in educational, social, and community activities to support holistic development.
Collaborate effectively with team members and other professionals, maintaining accurate records of care and progress.
Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment, supporting health routines and administering medication as required.
Attend mandatory training sessions, including safeguarding, health and safety, and first aid, to ensure ongoing professional development.
Support children in maintaining good hygiene and health routines.
Participate in supervision and appraisals, setting personal development goals.
Requirements:

Experience working with children or adults in a social care setting.
Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication skills, adaptable to children with learning disabilities.
Caring, patient, and resilient nature with a genuine commitment to improving children’s lives.
NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or willingness to undertake training to achieve this.
Flexibility to work in a residential care setting.
Ability to pass an Enhanced DBS check and full safer recruitment checks.
Desirable:

Experience with behaviour management techniques and care plan implementation.
Understanding of relevant legislation and statutory guidance.
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Patience, empathy, and ability to build trusting relationships with children and colleagues.
