Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support in Torfaen

Location: Torfaen, Wales

Salary: £90.00+ per day / DOE

Job Description:

An experienced provider of educational staffing solutions is seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to join schools in the Torfaen area. This role offers an excellent opportunity to support learners with additional needs, including those with Autism and other SEN, across primary, secondary, and SEN schools. Whether you're looking for full-time or part-time work, this position allows you to contribute meaningfully to the education and development of children with special educational needs in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and supervise classroom activities, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Assist learners in understanding lessons and staying on task, both in small groups and 1:1 settings
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to deliver tailored support to pupils with SEN
  • Support pupils during break times and assist with lunch where needed
  • Engage learners in classroom and extracurricular activities, promoting positive behaviour in line with school policies
  • Contribute to the development of pupils' social and academic skills

Requirements:

  • Experience working or volunteering with children with SEN, particularly Autism, is preferred but not essential
  • Proactive work ethic and a patient, understanding attitude
  • Good understanding of special educational needs and how to support pupils effectively
  • Ability to work well within a team and adapt to different school environments
  • Strong communication skills and a caring approach to supporting children with additional needs
