Job Description:

A leading specialist provider is seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to join their education team in a specialist school and college in Cranleigh, Surrey. This is a rewarding opportunity to support students aged 5-19 with complex learning disabilities, social communication difficulties, and challenging behaviours. As a Teaching Assistant in this role, you will help students access therapy-based education, develop essential life skills, and work towards greater independence. No prior experience is necessary - just empathy, compassion, and a "can-do" attitude.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with severe social communication difficulties, complex learning disabilities, and challenging behaviours.
- Assist in delivering personalised learning programmes, including core skills such as numeracy, literacy, and science, as well as life skills like cookery and gardening.
- Use alternative communication methods such as Makaton, signs, symbols, or communication aids to facilitate learning.
- Help manage emotional and behavioural challenges, guiding students through frustrations and anxieties.
- Support students with personal care needs, following the training provided.
- Contribute to a safe and inclusive learning environment, adhering to safeguarding policies.
- Participate in ongoing training, including Team Teach positive behaviour support and the Trust’s twice-weekly TA training programme.
