Job Description:
A leading special educational needs school in Aberdare is seeking an experienced and dedicated Male Teaching Assistant to join its welcoming team for an ongoing role. The Teaching Assistant position offers an excellent opportunity to support learners with ASD and challenging behaviour in a supportive environment. This full-time role is ideal for someone passionate about making a positive impact on children with additional needs, working within a recently renovated school that caters to secondary-aged learners with ASD, Global Delay Disorder, PDA, and challenging behaviour.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Teaching Assistant, your key duties will include:
- Supporting and supervising learners with ASD, PDA, Global Delay Disorder, or challenging behaviour
- Assisting learners at the start and end of the school day
- Helping staff prepare classrooms for lessons
- Working with learners in small groups or on a 1:1 basis
- Supporting the delivery of lessons alongside the class teacher
- Assisting learners during break times and lunchtimes
- Engaging learners in classroom and out-of-classroom activities
- Following the school's behaviour management policies
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 months experience working with children in schools, nurseries, or childcare settings; SEN experience is beneficial
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) (support available)
- Current Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
- References covering the last two years (no gaps)
- Right to work in the UK
