Vetro are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a reputable special school based in Birkenhead. This role offers an opportunity to support pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within a nurturing and inclusive environment. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and students to promote positive learning experiences and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Teaching Assistant based in Birkenhead, your daily duties will include:
- Supporting the curriculum for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students.
- Assisting with the delivery of extracurricular activities and offsite programmes.
- Providing 1:1 support to deliver bespoke interventions tailored to individual student needs.
- Developing resources and ensuring their availability for staff and students.
- Helping to raise attainment and engagement for all pupils.
- Planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality interventions to support student progress.
- Assisting teachers with lesson planning and resource creation to facilitate access to the curriculum.
- Supporting children with SEMH challenges to improve their social skills and communication.
- Organising and leading activities that promote social and emotional development.
- Contributing to a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Teaching Assistant in Birkenhead, you will need:
- Previous experience supporting students with SEMH needs, ideally using trauma-informed approaches.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and school improvement.
- Flexibility to adapt to the needs of pupils and the school environment.
- The ability to modify challenging behaviour in a firm but supportive manner.
- Child-centred approach, with a good sense of humour and patience.
