Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our special school in Tonteg, Rhondda Cynon Taf. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support learners with additional learning needs (ALN) within a nurturing and person-centred environment. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to deliver tailored learning programmes and support pupils’ personal and educational development.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Teaching Assistant based in Tonteg, your daily duties will include:
- Supporting learners with additional learning needs (ALN) to achieve their full potential.
- Assisting in personal care tasks such as feeding and changing, as instructed by the class teacher.
- Implementing strategies and activities to promote engagement and progress.
- Working collaboratively with teachers to plan and deliver individualised learning programmes.
- Creating a positive, caring, and inclusive environment that fosters respect, communication, and enjoyment.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Teaching Assistant, you will need:
- A relevant qualification such as NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an ALN setting (not essential but advantageous).
- A commitment to safeguarding and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- An understanding of the importance of high-quality education and a caring attitude towards learners.
