Key Responsibilities:
As a PRU Teaching Assistant based in Merthyr Tydfil, your daily duties will include:
- Supporting pupils with SEMH needs to re-engage with learning and develop social skills
- Assisting the Class Teacher in delivering personalised learning plans
- Managing behavioural challenges with patience and empathy
- Fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all pupils
- Monitoring and recording pupil progress and behaviour
- Promoting positive behaviour strategies and social development
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a PRU Teaching Assistant, you will need:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is desirable
- Resilient, empathetic, and able to handle challenging situations calmly
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility and a proactive approach to supporting pupils’ needs
- Relevant qualifications or training in SEMH support are advantageous
