Job Description
Teaching Assistant (SEN/ALN Focus) opportunities are available in Caerphilly, Caerphilly County Borough, supporting pupils across the Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2. This role focuses on learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN) / Additional Learning Needs (ALN), providing consistent, nurturing support in a busy primary school environment. You’ll work closely with teaching staff to help pupils feel confident, supported, and ready to engage in learning.
Key Responsibilities
As a Teaching Assistant (SEN/ALN Focus) based in Caerphilly, your daily duties will include:
- Delivering 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN/ALN, adapting tasks and approaches to meet individual learning needs
- Working alongside the class teacher to implement targeted strategies and interventions that support progress and engagement
- Helping to build an inclusive classroom by supporting pupils with emotional, social, sensory, and behavioural needs, and contributing to monitoring and recording progress
Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful as a Teaching Assistant (SEN/ALN Focus), you will need:
- EWC registration as a school learning support worker (or the ability to register)
- At least 3 months’ experience supporting children with SEN/ALN in a school or relevant setting
- Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to obtain one) and Right to work in the UK
