Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant primary school in Cardiff, supporting children with special educational needs. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact within a nurturing environment, focusing on children with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs.
Key Responsibilities:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant based in Cardiff, your daily duties will include:
- Providing dedicated support to students with SEN/SEBD, helping them access the curriculum and participate fully in lessons
- Assisting the Class Teacher in planning and delivering tailored learning activities to meet individual student needs
- Supporting pupils with behavioural, emotional, and social challenges to ensure a positive and safe learning environment
- Fostering inclusive classroom practices that promote confidence, independence, and engagement among pupils
- Supervising and assisting pupils during classroom activities and breaks, maintaining their well-being and safety
- Contributing to the development and implementation of educational plans and behavioural strategies
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will need:
- Previous experience supporting children with SEMH or other special educational needs (preferred)
- Compassionate, patient, and resilient with a genuine passion for supporting children’s development
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
- Enthusiastic about creating an inclusive, supportive classroom environment
- Reliable and committed to working full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm
