We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Primary School Teaching Assistant to join a leading specialist provider in Tonypandy, Rhondda Cynon Taf. This full-time position offers an inspiring opportunity to support children with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) in a welcoming primary school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored, specialist support to pupils with PMLD, fostering their development and well-being
- Assist with personal care and communication strategies, including objects of reference, touch cues, and sensory approaches
- Implement highly differentiated, multi-sensory learning activities to engage pupils and support their individual progress
- Collaborate closely with the Class Teacher and external professionals such as therapists to create an inclusive and positive learning environment
- Support the development of life skills and promote independence among pupils
- Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and stimulating classroom environment
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with special educational needs, especially PMLD, is advantageous
- Knowledge of communication methods such as sensory approaches, objects of reference, and touch cues
- Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to supporting inclusive education
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and build positive relationships with children and colleagues
- Flexibility and commitment to a full-time, long-term position
Working Pattern:
- Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm
