Job Overview

We are looking for a Residential Team Leader to join a short-break residential service for children and young people. This is a permanent, full-time position working 37 hours per week with a salary of £29,000 per year. The role involves providing 24-hour care for young people aged 5 to 18 with moderate to severe learning disabilities.

The ideal candidate will be a passionate, resilient, and committed individual ready to manage and lead a team in delivering a high standard of person-centred care. This is a challenging yet highly rewarding role that offers a significant opportunity to make a difference.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead and manage a team of residential professionals, overseeing the 24-hour rota and managing shifts.

  • Provide emotional and social support to young people who may have challenging emotional and social difficulties, including assistance with personal care.

  • Take the lead on case and care planning for young people, conducting regular reviews in conjunction with families and other professionals.

  • Supervise, guide, and train staff and volunteers, including providing induction.

  • Attend professional meetings, such as safeguarding conferences and EHC planning meetings.

  • Deputise for the manager when necessary, liaising with stakeholders and leading on specific areas like compliance and health and safety.

 

Required Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of a Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People's Workforce Social Care Pathway or an equivalent qualification.

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or management role within a residential setting.

  • Proven ability to effectively manage and prioritise workloads.

  • Experience working with children who have challenging behaviours and complex needs.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding protocols.

  • A valid UK driving license is desirable.
