Job Description:
We are recruiting a Team Manager (Autism Care) to join a specialist young people’s wellbeing service in Thatcham, Berkshire. This role provides day-to-day leadership for a team supporting autistic young people to achieve positive learning outcomes, wellbeing goals, and greater independence.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Team Manager (Autism Care) based in Thatcham, your daily duties will include:
- Leading best practice in autism support, including the use of autism-friendly strategies and individualised plans
- Overseeing safeguarding, health needs (including medication administration), attendance, and accurate record-keeping within care and insight systems
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and supportive environment, including risk assessments for young people, activities, and trips in Thatcham, Berkshire
- Line managing, coaching, and mentoring a team of Autism Practitioners, including performance management, absence management, and development planning
- Supporting recruitment and induction to build a consistent, values-led team culture
- Maintaining regular communication with parents and key stakeholders, and undertaking Key Worker responsibilities where required
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Team Manager (Autism Care), you will need:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) as a minimum (desirable: Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare)
- At least 2 years’ experience as an Autism Practitioner (or equivalent), ideally within special/complex needs settings
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, national standards (e.g., Ofsted/CQC), and health & risk assessment procedures
- A Full UK Driving Licence
- Enhanced DBS check (plus DBS Update Service subscription) and satisfactory references, in line with statutory requirements
