Job Title: Children's Support Worker (Relief/Temporary)
Location: Trefforest, South Wales, UK
Salary: £13.68 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)
Job Description:
Are you passionate about making a positive impact on young people's lives? We are seeking compassionate, reliable, and adaptable Children's Support Workers to join our team in the Trefforest area. This role offers flexible working hours, allowing you to choose shifts that fit your schedule, whether you're a student, parent, or someone with existing commitments. As a Children's Support Worker, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience, support children and young people in their daily activities, and contribute to their wellbeing in a meaningful way.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support children and young people in their daily activities and interests
- Attend weekends away, holidays, and trips with the children
- Support children in weekend and evening activities, from climbing to baking or trips to Butlins
- Promote independence and wellbeing of young people
- Maintain safety and protect children from health and welfare risks
- Provide emotional and practical support in line with care plans
- Assist in managing challenging behaviour and minimise incidents
- Attend training such as restraint techniques (training provided if needed)
Requirements:
- At least 6 months’ experience working with children or within a social care setting
- Relationship-building skills and the ability to engage with young people
- Understanding of trauma, homelessness, domestic abuse, and their impacts
- Crisis response skills and emotional resilience
- Empathetic, caring, and resilient nature
- Valid UK driving licence
- TMVA restraint training certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Current Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply
- Right to work in the UK
