Veteran Supported Housing & Welfare Manager
Location: Wilton, Wiltshire
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum, dependent on experience
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time (37.5 hrs/week)

Job Description:
Our client, a leading organisation dedicated to supporting veterans, is seeking a Veteran Supported Housing & Welfare Manager to lead their supported accommodation services in Wilton, Wiltshire. This senior operational role involves managing day-to-day housing operations, welfare support, and staff, ensuring the organisation’s mission to help veterans rebuild stability and independence.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Veteran Supported Housing & Welfare Manager based in Wilton, your daily duties will include:

  • Leading the operational management of supported housing and veteran services, including occupancy, referrals, and welfare administration.
  • Overseeing the full supported-housing pathway: assessments, admissions, tenancy sustainment, and planned move-on.
  • Managing Housing Benefit and welfare benefits processes, liaising with local authorities, DWP, and other agencies.
  • Delivering person-centred resident welfare and case management, promoting independence and positive outcomes.
  • Supervising a small team, including the Veteran Support Officer, Maintenance Manager, and Employment & Training Officer, through supervision, appraisal, and development.
  • Acting as safeguarding lead (or deputy), ensuring risk assessments, safeguarding culture, and escalation procedures are followed.
  • Ensuring health & safety and premises compliance, working closely with the Maintenance Manager.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with local authorities, NHS, veterans’ charities, and other stakeholders.
  • Producing monthly performance reports on occupancy, voids, safeguarding, and other key metrics.
  • Managing communications and social content to showcase the organisation’s work.

Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Veteran Supported Housing & Welfare Manager, you will need:

  • Significant experience in supported housing, social care, welfare, or veterans’ services.
  • Proven track record managing staff and complex caseloads involving vulnerable adults.
  • Working knowledge of welfare benefits, including Universal Credit and Housing Benefit, ideally within supported or exempt accommodation.
  • Experience of multi-agency working and producing accurate management and performance reports.
  • Confident, resilient, and capable of working with statutory agencies and sensitive situations.
  • Relevant degree or diploma in housing, social care, welfare rights, or management is advantageous but not essential if you have strong relevant experience.

Nice to Have:

  • Direct experience working with Armed Forces veterans.
  • Background in homelessness or supported housing.
  • Designated Safeguarding Lead experience.
  • Experience with contract reporting and case-management systems.
