Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Night Therapeutic Care Worker to join a leading specialist provider in Berrow, Gloucestershire. This full-time role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people aged 6 to 18 who have experienced trauma and emotional difficulties. As a Night Therapeutic Care Worker, you will create a safe, calm, and nurturing environment during overnight hours, supporting children through therapeutic approaches and ensuring their wellbeing. If you are compassionate, resilient, and committed to providing high-quality care, this role in Berrow could be the perfect fit for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a calm, therapeutic presence during bedtime and overnight hours to help children feel secure and supported.
  • Respond appropriately to night wakings, anxieties, or challenges, using trauma-informed techniques such as PACE principles.
  • Monitor the home throughout the night, conducting regular checks to ensure safety and wellbeing.
  • Record significant events, sleep patterns, and concerns during the night.
  • Complete household cleaning tasks to maintain a tidy, hygienic, and welcoming environment.
  • Prepare breakfast, packed lunches, and organise household supplies for the following day.
  • Carry out laundry, organise children’s clothing, and perform light maintenance or organisational tasks.
  • Complete paperwork including logbooks, incident reports, and handovers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Support safeguarding procedures and report concerns promptly, adhering to all relevant policies and regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team to support the therapeutic ethos of the home.

Requirements:

  • Willingness to work night shifts in a therapeutic care environment.
  • Ability to complete cleaning and domestic tasks to a high standard.
  • Resilience and calmness under pressure, especially during night-time incidents.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and uphold standards of care.
  • Self-reflective with a willingness to learn and develop through supervision and training.
  • Full manual driving licence (may be required for occasional cross-cover).
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or willingness to achieve within 2 years.
  • Right to work in the UK and enhanced DBS clearance.
  • Reside within 20 miles of the Gloucestershire head office (preferred).
  • 21 years of age or older, in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Willingness to work a varied shift pattern, including some weekends and evenings.

This role in Berrow offers a rewarding opportunity to support vulnerable children in a therapeutic setting. If you are passionate about making a difference and meet the criteria, we encourage you to apply.

Chris at Vetro has been incredible.

I applied for a role I'd never done before, and not only did he help with my application process, but once I was offered an interview, he spent time ensuring I was sufficiently prepared. He has also made an once-a-week update meeting available to check on my onboarding process. If you're looking for work and support, I'd highly recommend Vetro Recruitment.
