Job Description
A Night Therapeutic Care Worker role is available in Berrow, Gloucestershire, supporting a small therapeutic children’s home on the Gloucestershire/Worcestershire borders. You’ll help create a calm, safe night-time environment for young people who have experienced trauma, ensuring the home is secure, well-run, and ready for the day team.
Key Responsibilities
As a Night Therapeutic Care Worker based in Berrow, your daily duties will include:
- Providing a reassuring, therapeutic presence at bedtime and throughout the night, responding appropriately to night wakings and anxieties using PACE principles.
- Completing regular night-time checks in line with policies and individual care plans, recording sleep patterns, events, and any concerns.
- Maintaining a clean, welcoming home overnight (kitchens, bathrooms, communal areas), including laundry, restocking supplies, and preparing items for morning routines.
- Completing accurate paperwork (logbooks, incident reports) and delivering clear handovers to day staff to ensure continuity of care.
- Following safeguarding, health and safety, and night-time security procedures at all times.
Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful as a Night Therapeutic Care Worker, you will need:
- Right to work in the UK (please note: sponsorship/visa assistance is not available).
- Enhanced DBS check (funded).
- Full UK manual driving licence.
- Age 21+ (regulatory requirement).
- Willingness to work a varied night shift pattern (including some weekends).
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to achieve within 2 years, with funded training subject to agreement after probation).
- A resilient, calm approach and willingness to work therapeutically with children and young people.
