Job Description
Young Persons Support Worker opportunities are available in Barry, Bridgend, supporting vulnerable young people within supported accommodation and community-based services. You’ll play a key role in building trusting relationships, promoting independence, and helping young people move towards safer, more stable outcomes in a trauma-informed setting.
Key Responsibilities
As a Young Persons Support Worker based in Barry, your daily duties will include:
- Supporting young people with independent living skills (budgeting, cooking, shopping, benefits and tenancy sustainment)
- Delivering emotional and practical support, using a calm, trauma-informed approach to help manage crises and reduce risk
- Completing accurate record keeping and maintaining safeguarding standards, including reporting concerns and following service procedures
Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful as a Young Persons Support Worker, you will need:
- Relevant qualification (or willingness to work towards one) aligned to youth work, health & social care, or supported housing
- Previous experience supporting young people in a similar environment (supported living, homelessness, residential, outreach, or related settings)
- Enhanced DBS Check and Full UK Driving Licence (driver essential)
