Job Title: Young Persons Support Worker (Children’s Support Worker)
Location: Porthcawl, Bridgend, Wales, United Kingdom
Salary: £14.24 - £28.48 inclusive of holiday pay (DOE)

Job Description:
Are you passionate about making a difference in people’s lives? As a Young Persons Support Worker in Porthcawl, you’ll support children and young people who may be experiencing homelessness, substance misuse, mental health challenges, and trauma. This Young Persons Support Worker role in Porthcawl offers meaningful, hands-on work where you can help build independence, wellbeing, and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children and young people with day-to-day activities and interests as a Young Persons Support Worker in Porthcawl
  • Promote independence and wellbeing, ensuring each young person’s needs are understood and supported
  • Attend weekends away, holidays, and trips away with the children as part of the Young Persons Support Worker role in Porthcawl
  • Support weekend and evening activities (e.g., outings and structured activities) to encourage engagement and development
  • Protect children and young people from risks to health and welfare
  • Provide emotional and practical support within the home environment
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of care plans and guidelines to ensure safety
  • Support, de-escalate, and help minimise incidents when behaviour can be challenging

Requirements:

  • A desire to create positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people
  • Empathetic, caring, and resilient approach
  • At least 6 months’ experience working with children or within a similar social care setting
  • Restraint training: restraint trained, or willing to undergo the 3-day course
  • Valid UK driving licence (required)
  • Current Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one
  • Right to work in the UK
