Job Description:
Role Overview: Support Assistant - Temp to perm
(12 weeks temporary work which can lead to a permanent position after 12 weeks).
The service provides more than just accommodation; it offers a safe, inclusive home and holistic support to help young people achieve their potential and transition into independent living and engagement in employment or education.
- Location: Merthyr Tydfil
- Salary: £13.68 per hour
- Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent, Full Time, 2 x 24 hour shifts each week
- Key Duties:
- Offer day-to-day emotional and practical support.
- Motivate and empower young people to gain independence.
- Provide support and advice in line with support plans and keyworker requests.
- Work collaboratively as part of a team.
What You Need to Be Considered
You need a specific set of skills focused on engagement and resilience:
- Relationship Building: The ability to engage and build strong relationships with young people.
- Understanding Trauma: Understanding the impacts of homelessness, domestic abuse, and trauma.
- Crisis Response: A forward-thinking attitude to crisis response.
- Emotional Resilience: The ability to remain calm and collected in challenging and traumatic situations.
- Empathetic, caring and resilient nature
- At least 6 months experience of working with children or within a similar Social Care setting
- TMVA - Restraint Training Certificate
- Valid UK Driving Licence
- Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the update service or are willing to obtain one
- The right to work in the UK
