Vetro Education is seeking to recruit experienced and dedicated General SEN Teaching Assistants to work within the Aberdare area. The schools support learners with a multitude of needs and Vetro Education is looking for a SEN Teaching Assistants who have experience working within this environment.

As a SEN Teaching assistant you will have a profound understanding of working with children exhibiting social,Mental and emotional challenging behaviors.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant you will need to demonstrat excellent verbal communication skills, Active listening skills and the ability to remain calm in stressfull situations.

As a Welsh Government framework staffing provider, Vetro Education will allow you to work in Primary, Secondary and SEN schools as well as numerous privately run education provisions across Wales.

  • Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Pay: £83.50 per day minimum
  • Location: Aberdare
  • Hours: Ad Hoc, Short Term and Long Term - Monday to Friday 830am - 330pm

The role: What you'll be doing as a SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Assisting learners at the start of the school day and when leaving at the end of the day
  • Assisting staff members in preparing the classroom for a lesson
  • Working with learners in small groups and or working 1:1 with children with additional needs
  • Support the class teacher in the delivery of the lessons
  • Assist learners at break time with their lunch
  • Engage learners with both classroom and out-of-classroom activities
  • Work in accordance with the school's behaviour management policies

The candidate: What you'll need to be successful as a SEN Teaching Assistant

  • At least 3 months experience of working with children in schools, nurseries or childcare settings - experience within an SEN setting would be beneficial
  • Registration with the EWC (the Education Workforce Council) - we can help you with this
  • References covering the last two years (no gaps)
  • Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
  • The right to work in the UK
