Job Description:
Vetro are seeking a caring, skilled, and enthusiastic EY SEND Teaching Assistant to support children within an Early Years provision in Cheshire. This temporary role offers an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children’s early educational journeys, particularly supporting children with additional needs in a Reception setting. Working under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO, the successful candidate will help create a nurturing, inclusive, and communication-rich environment where every child feels valued, supported, and able to flourish.

Key Responsibilities:
As an EY SEND Teaching Assistant based in Cheshire, your daily duties will include:

• Building strong, positive, and supportive relationships with children and their families.
• Supporting children with additional needs to develop their communication, confidence, independence, and engagement.
• Facilitating communication, interaction, and learning through play-based activities and continuous provision.
• Using visual supports, communication strategies, and structured routines to help children access learning and the wider Early Years environment.
• Collaborating with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to implement, review, and adapt individual support strategies.
• Supporting children’s social, emotional, and behavioural development through nurturing and consistent approaches.
• Working with children individually and in small groups to encourage participation, communication, and independence.
• Carrying out observations and contributing to assessment information to support planning and identify children’s next steps.
• Supporting children with speech, language, and communication needs, social communication differences, and emerging special educational needs.
• Creating a positive, inclusive, and stimulating environment where every child can succeed.

Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as an EY SEND Teaching Assistant, you will need:

• Experience of working with children, ideally within an Early Years or primary school setting.
• Experience or understanding of supporting children with additional needs.
• Knowledge or experience of supporting children with speech, language, and communication needs is desirable.
• A caring, patient, and nurturing approach to supporting young children.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
• A creative approach to supporting children’s learning through play.
• Resilience, positivity, and adaptability to meet individual needs.
• A strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and promoting children’s welfare.
• A satisfactory enhanced DBS check and pre-employment safeguarding checks.
