Job Description:
Vetro are seeking an experienced and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team at a welcoming primary school on the Wirral. This role is vital in providing consistent classroom support during Planning, Preparation, and Assessment (PPA) time, while also delivering targeted Maths lessons across Key Stage 2. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to support pupil progress and foster a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) , your daily duties will include:
- Independently leading whole classes during teacher PPA time, delivering planned curriculum activities and maintaining positive behaviour management.
- Delivering and evaluating structured Maths sessions to small groups of children, ensuring engagement and understanding.
- Tracking pupil progress during intervention sessions and providing clear, actionable feedback to class teachers to inform planning.
- Creating a positive learning environment that encourages growth-mindset and resilience, where children feel safe to take risks and develop problem-solving skills.
- Upholding safeguarding and child protection standards across all activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of all pupils.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you will need:
- An appropriate qualification such as NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
- Previous experience working in a primary school setting, ideally with Key Stage 2 pupils.
- Mandatory compliance with Enhanced DBS checks and safeguarding procedures.
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills, with a proactive approach to supporting children’s learning.
