Job Description:
Our client, a leading educational institution in Torfaen, is seeking a dedicated Literacy Intervention Officer to join their team. This role involves working closely with students to enhance their reading skills, confidence, and overall literacy development within a supportive school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Literacy Intervention Officer based in Torfaen, your daily duties will include:
- Planning and delivering small group literacy interventions to improve reading fluency, comprehension, and confidence.
- Implementing targeted, structured literacy programmes aligned with individual education plans or SEN support.
- Monitoring student progress through data analysis and maintaining accurate records of interventions and outcomes.
- Collaborating with teaching staff to identify students who would benefit from targeted literacy support and assisting classroom teachers in ensuring progress.
- Promoting a positive reading culture within the school by contributing to literacy activities.
- Supporting additional staff in the administration of corrective reader programmes and setting up student accounts and reading levels.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Literacy Intervention Officer, you will need:
- An NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent qualification.
- Experience working with students in a literacy or SEN support setting.
- Mandatory compliance with an Enhanced DBS Check and a Full UK Driving Licence (if applicable).
