Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and caring Reception Teaching Assistant to join our Early Years/Year 1 team at a popular, voluntary aided primary school in Eccleston, Cheshire. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support high-quality early years education within a welcoming village setting, working closely with teachers to foster confident, resilient, and independent learners.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Reception Teaching Assistant based in Eccleston, your daily duties will include:
- Supporting high-quality teaching through purposeful play, adult-led learning, and well-planned continuous provision indoors and outdoors.
- Promoting children's communication and language development through high-quality interactions, sustained shared thinking, and rich vocabulary.
- Delivering systematic synthetic phonics and early mathematics sessions to support early literacy and numeracy skills.
- Observing, assessing, and recording children’s progress to inform next steps in learning.
- Supporting children with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN), SEND, and other additional needs, adapting provision as required.
- Promoting children’s independence, self-regulation, and school readiness through consistent routines and high expectations.
- Contributing to an enabling learning environment that reflects children’s interests and supports all areas of development.
- Working collaboratively with families and external professionals to support children’s overall development.
- Contributing to self-evaluation and continuous improvement to maintain high standards of provision.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Reception Teaching Assistant, you will need:
- A strong understanding of the EYFS Framework and Development Matters.
- Experience supporting children within early years or KS1 settings.
- Knowledge of supporting children with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN).
- Ability to promote the Characteristics of Effective Teaching and Learning through high-quality interactions.
- Evidence-informed practice and a commitment to professional development.
- High expectations for every child and a dedication to inclusive practice.
- An enhanced DBS check and relevant safeguarding training.
